The Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) held an informational session in partnership with the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) on Tuesday, March 29, 2021. This informative session gave the membership of the BCCI, the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Authority (BHTA), and the Small Business Association (SBA) an opportunity to engage the BRA team directly on key tax issues and concerns, and also to learn about important updates to the tax system and platforms.
The event opened with welcome remarks from Misha Lobban-Clarke, the Executive Director of the BCCI and was moderated by BCCI President, Mrs. Trisha Tannis who also gave opening remarks. This was followed by a special address from Mrs. Louisa Lewis-Ward, Revenue Commissioner of BRA. Other featured presenters from BRA were Mr. Junior Dottin, Senior Planning & Policy Officer who gave an update on TAMIS; Mr. Trevor Forde, Director of Tax Operations who spoke to enhanced service delivery through Tax Operations and the new BRA Contact Centre and Mr. Anthony Gittens, Director of Audit and Compliance who shared updates in his area of responsibility.
