CUSTOM AND EXCISE DEPARTMENT TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DUTY-FREE PROCESSES AT GAIA

Effective March 31st, 2021, the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) will permanently close its Duty-Free Facility at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA).

All activities related to the processing of triplicate invoices (third schedule) as well as the delivery of duty-free purchases to departing passengers  will be handled by the Customs and Excise Department (CED) effective April 1, 2021.

The Customs and Excise Department is facilitating a webinar with duty-free retailers tomorrow, April 1, 2021 stating at 2pm, to outline the new procedures for the handling of duty free packages and the processing of triplicate invoices by the CED officers at the GAIA going forward.
