Indirect vs Direct taxation; Zero rated vs Exempt; Compensatory Credits; VAT Online Fees’, Understanding the reformation of the VAT System.
Any government’s approach to taxation has an impact on the business operating environment, directly impacting disposable income and the earning potential of business. The ability to raise revenues from taxes called “fiscal capacity” is a crucial aspect for the functioning of any state. Being able to tax citizens, and collect revenues efficiently, is a cornerstone of state formation and survival.
In the most recent Barbados government budgetary proposals and Financial Statements for 2019 we have seen changes towards the approach to taxation. The implementation of these measures has profoundly impacted many businesses and some business owners are concerned about the impact.
This forum will allow for robust discussions on the topic of tax reform and its implications for businesses. The agenda was developed to keep participants abreast of various aspects of labour and employment relations and attracts participants from all the business sectors in Barbados.
