On Thursday, 12 September 2019, BCCI’s newly appointed Executive Director -Mrs. Misha Lobban Clarke welcomed His Excellency Sergio de Jesus Jorge Pastrana , Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, during a courtesy call at the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Discussions centered on ways in which the BCCI and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba can deepen their relationship in ways highlighted in their existing MOU and beyond.

Ambassador Pastrana referred to breakthroughs and strides made in the fields of medicine and pharmaceuticals in Cuba and as such he expressed a desire to explore how the business sector in Barbados can take advantage.

Other areas of interests discussed included disaster risk reduction, environmental engineering and education.

The visit concluded with an invitation to the BCCI Members to participate in FIHAV 2019 – the largest trade show in the Caribbean, as well as witness celebrations for Havana’s 500th anniversary.

The BCCI thanks Ambassador Pastrana for his embrace and looks forward to further conversations on initiatives which can benefit the people of Barbados and Cuba.
